It may not be our business to judge but it is human nature and fun watercooler talk. Reasons people follow all the gossip may be unknown and it is so different for every individual. Personally, I like to know that although these people are rolling in money, while I look in my couch and car for change, they still have serious problems and media constantly reminds us of those problems. They also have placed themselves in a job that invites us into their lives...hard to overlook that.

I agree with "anonymous". With any high profile position comes public scrutiny. It is what it is and one who chooses that path has to realize that with the public lifestyle they'll deal with everything from inaccurate reporting to those hateful paparrazzi. I can only imagine how hard that is to deal with but it's human nature--"the need to know."

I completely agree with your comment! Although it may be a little over the top at times with all the new celebrity magazines and shows, these people chose the life they lead. Celebrity gossip is not a new concept. They knew what they were getting themselves into. I find it hard to feel sorry for them, nor do I feel like less of a person for paying attention. In fact, the more we watch, the more popular they are, the more money they make...boo hoo. Unfortunately, many people pass judgment on every stranger they see- not just celebrities-and these everyday strangers did not ask for it, nor are they being paid for it.

Celebrities have a commitment to their audience to entertain them, not to sacrifice their lives for their fan's viewing or reading pleasure. I understand what you mean by saying that they signed up for it and only become richer due to our attention. However, they are human and they do need some sort of privacy. We relish that in our lives and feel offended when someone tries to invade it. So, don't you think it's too much when the paparazzi climb on trees and stalk the celebrities on a consistent basis to provide us with petty details on their lives? Who cares that Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan had a dance-off at a popular New York club? Shouldn’t we focus our energy on more important things than the lives of others?
